Glucosamine Sulfate is an amino sugar (aminomonosaccharide) formed from glucose and the amino acid, glutamine. The body uses amino sugars to form the synovial membranes, ligaments and cartilage which make up all the joint structures of the body.

Glucosamine sulfate and MSM (a sulfur molecule) build mucopolysaccarides and chondroitin molecules.

Supplementing with chondroitin is not effective, it is a finished molecule. This would be like putting a finished product back on an assembly line. The body can only build chondroitin molecules and has no way of using a finished chondroitin molecule taken orally in supplement form.

TRANS-RESVERATROL

Researchers have determined that resveratrol has the ability to extend the lives of yeast, worms, fruit flies, certain species of fish, and obese mice up to 70%, 29%, 24%, 50%, and 31% respectively (depending on the amount of resveratrol given).

Resveratrol is a phytoalexin produced by a number of plants, apparently for its antifungal properties. It is found in widely varying amounts of grapes (primarily the skins); raspberries, mulberries, blueberries, bilberries and cranberries. It has benefical health effects, such as anti-cancer, anti-viral, neuroprotective, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and life-prolonging effects.



The exact answer is not known but a widely asserted theory is that resveratrol activates an enzyme that is present in the bodies of many living organisms called sirtuin 2 (or SIR2). SIR2 is believed to extend cell life by 'coercing' cells to repair themselves (i.e. repair their DNA while increasing the production of protective antioxidants) as opposed to dying. In essence, it is believed resveratrol extends the lives of individual cells and the lives of the 'host' organisms are extended as a result.
Caloric Restriction 

Interestingly, SIR2 is also activated by the practice of caloric restriction (reducing the calories in a 'normal' diet by around 40% while still consuming the necessary vitamins and minerals a body needs; that is, replacing high calorie foods with low calorie nutrient rich foods). Science has proven that calorie restriction increases the lives of organisms such as mice while significant health benefits have been observed in monkeys and humans - studies are underway to determine if calorie restriction extends the lives of monkeys and humans - many in the scientific community are optimistic that it does.
 

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION: When purchasing Resveratrol make sure it is in it's active form which is the Trans Factor which requires a low oxygen environment. If left exposed to oxygen Trans-Resveratrol converts to the inactive Cis-Form which now makes it a good antioxidant but offers no anti-aging benefit.
